Your Screen Time limit has a button that says Ignore

You set a 30-minute limit on TikTok. At minute 30 the screen says time’s up, and right under it is Ignore Limit. One tap and you are back. That isn’t a bug. It is how app limits work unless you change one setting.

Make the limit block

App limits only lock the app when “Block at End of Limit” is on. That option only appears once a Screen Time passcode exists. Set a passcode first, then open the app limit and turn the option on. Apps in Always Allowed skip every limit, so check that list too.

One more gap: an app limit covers the app, not the website. The same site in Safari needs a website limit of its own.

Why it still slips if you set the passcode

Block at End of Limit asks for the Screen Time passcode to add time. If you chose that passcode, you know it. Typing four digits at 1 AM is not much harder than tapping Ignore. The setup that works is a passcode someone else holds, which is how parents use it, and most adults don’t want to hand a friend the keys to their own phone.

A limit that asks why

Aegin uses the same Screen Time access on iPhone, but the exit is different. There is no Ignore button and no passcode you know. The way in early is to plead your case: you type why you need the app, and the Judge reads your reason against your own record and answers yes, not yet, or no.

You also don’t write rules. Aegin sorts your apps into three groups: Feeds (short video and social), Pull (games and long video) and Protected (anything you need, never locked). Feeds open in short windows and then rest. In the first week the rest is 15 minutes, about the length of one urge. After that it grows a step every few days, and a step only comes once you held two of your last three days. Nothing jumps, and nothing steps back on a bad day.

What Aegin can’t stop

On iPhone, Aegin runs on Apple’s Screen Time access, like every app blocker there. That access can be removed in Settings, and no app on the App Store can prevent it. On Android, Aegin leads with an Accessibility service, and Safe Mode sits below anything an app can reach. A second phone or a factory reset beats every consumer blocker, ours included. The bypass ledger lists each of these with sources.
