// PROTOCOL · ACCOUNT DELETION
Delete your account.
You can ask us to delete your Aegin account and its data at any time, from inside the app, from this website, or by email. Deletion is not instant. The account is hidden and held for ninety days, and signing back in at any point in that window brings it back in full. If you do not sign in, it is erased permanently and cannot be recovered. This page covers how to ask, what those ninety days mean, what gets erased, and the small set of records we are required to keep.
How to request deletion
You can ask us to delete your Aegin account and its data at any time, by any of the routes below. All three start the same ninety-day process and none of them erases anything on the spot. You do not have to contact support first and you do not have to give a reason.
- IN THE APP
- Open Aegin, go to Settings and then Profile settings, scroll to the bottom, and choose Delete account. To stop an impulsive tap doing something permanent, the screen asks you to type DELETE, tick an acknowledgement, and confirm once more. This is the fastest route and it works on both iOS and Android.
- ON THE WEB
- Sign in at aegin.live, open your account settings, and choose Delete account. Use this if you no longer have the app installed. There is no need to reinstall it.
- BY EMAIL
- If you cannot get into either, email support@aegin.live from the address on the account and ask us to delete it. We verify that the account is yours before acting on an emailed request.
Once you confirm, the account enters a ninety-day restricted period instead of being erased. At any point in those ninety days you can undo the request by signing back in with your email or username and your password, and everything is restored. If you do not sign in, deletion finalizes automatically at the end of the ninety days and cannot be undone.
Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription bought through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Those live with the platform and only the platform can stop them, so cancel there first. Otherwise the store will keep charging you for a subscription attached to an account that no longer exists.
Restricted mode and coming back
For ninety days after you ask, the account is held rather than erased. During that period:
- YOU ARE HIDDEN
- Your profile disappears from search and is no longer publicly viewable. You come off other people’s follower and following lists, and you show up only as "aegin user" in any direct-message conversation that already exists.
- PROCESSING STOPS
- All behavioral, willpower, and AI processing of your data stops. No notifications, no email, no marketing. The data sits there so it can be restored if you come back, and it is used for nothing else.
- COMING BACK
- Signing in with your email or username and password at any point inside the ninety days lifts restricted mode and restores the account, your follows, your messages, and your history exactly as they were.
Emailing support@aegin.live starts the same ninety-day process. It does not erase the account on the day you write.
What is deleted
When the ninety days elapse and deletion finalizes, we erase the personal data we hold about you, including:
- ACCOUNT AND PROFILE
- Your name, username, email address, profile photo, bio, and authentication credentials.
- HEALTH AND FITNESS
- Any sleep, heart-rate, and heart-rate-variability data read from Apple Health or Health Connect to inform your willpower analysis.
- SCREEN TIME AND ACTIVITY
- Your screen-time and app-usage history, the inventory of apps that could be limited, enforcement events, unlock requests, and the decisions taken on them.
- BEHAVIORAL AND AI DATA
- Behavioral logs, your behavioral and discipline profile, willpower history, and anything the assistant was holding in memory about you.
- SOCIAL AND MESSAGES
- Direct messages and group messages you sent, groups you own, your follows and follow requests, and any blocks or reports you created.
- THE REST OF THE PRODUCT
- Focus sessions, habits, goals, to-dos, limits and allowances you configured, and your push-notification tokens.
All of this goes from the live database when deletion finalizes. Copies sitting in encrypted backups are overwritten on the normal rotation, within thirty days.
What we keep, and for how long
A small set of records survives deletion, either because the law requires it or because the data can no longer point at you:
- DE-IDENTIFIED STATISTICS
- Aggregate, de-identified statistics such as coarse age bands, country, and summary scores. These carry no name, email, account identifier, message content, or device identifier and cannot be linked back to you. They are used to run and improve the product and are not personal data.
- PAYMENT AND TAX RECORDS
- If you ever paid for a subscription, the minimum invoice and transaction records we need for tax, accounting, and audit obligations, kept only for the statutory period and used for nothing else.
- LEGAL HOLDS
- Where we are under a legal obligation, a dispute, or a fraud or abuse investigation, the specific records needed to comply, for only as long as that lasts.
We do not keep your health data, your message content, or any profile that identifies you once deletion has finalized.
Who this applies to
Aegin is operated by Aegin Labs, India. This process covers the Aegin mobile app (package com.aegin.app) and the web service at aegin.live. Questions about account deletion go to support@aegin.live. What happens to the data afterwards is set out in the Privacy Policy at /legal/privacy.
